IDEAs were recently nominated at the Lifelong Learning awards for our achievement in providing learning opportunities. One of our members also received an award for her achievements with her computer skills.

February 2003

In February 2003 IDEAs members and staff were treated to a drumming and movement workshop by Linda and Nigel of the Glasgow group 'Sounds of Progress'.

The morning cobwebs were blown away with an energetic drum workshop led by Nigel, which had the twelve participants working on different samba rhythms using various drums and a cowbell. With their ears still ringing, the members provided lunch for their guests then it was time for Linda's movement and relaxation session. After a warm up limbo session, small groups devised and performed their own impromptu 'ribbon dances' packed full of emotion!

Then it was time to slow things down and relax as sponge tennis balls filled with aromatherapy oils were used to massage tired muscles. Before Nigel and Linda left, the members decided to leave on a high and have another go at drumming. Once the group was thoroughly exhausted with heads buzzing, it was time to call it a day.
